About Us

The Castleton, Vermont congregation is a group of people ranging in age from infants to retirement age,  desiring to reflect God's love to the community around them and to each other as they strive to serve the Lord as reflected in their lives.

We gather each Sunday for both morning and afternoon services, with lunch and a fellowship hour in-between.  Additionally, we have an informal time of gathering on the first and third Thursday of each month from January through April, for Bible Study or fellowship.

We are a part of the Apostolic Christian Church of America and fellowship with those from our churches around the world is an important part of our identity.

What we believe

The Apostolic Christian Church believes in the infallibility of the Bible, and it is founded on faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The purpose of the church is to teach the Gospel message of salvation, to nurture the believer, to preserve sound doctrine and to serve others in the likeness of Christ. The church diligently applies New Testament standards to everyday life and worship, and it practices a deep reverence toward God.

Salvation through Jesus Christ is man's greatest treasure. The Apostolic Christian Church seeks to share the joy of this marvelous gift from God, and prays diligently that others also will turn to Jesus Christ in true faith and repentance, experience peace with God and man, and receive the gift of eternal life.

The doctrine of the church is rooted and grounded in the Bible, which is recognized as God-inspired and infallible. We believe the Bible contains all we need for doctrine and instruction in righteousness centered on the gospel message of Jesus Christ and salvation that comes through his death and resurrection.

Our Statement of Faith expresses what we believe and teach based on the Bible.

History

On May 28, 2003, two ministers from the Rockville, Connecticut congregation held the first worship services in the Grange Hall, in Norwich, VT.  A total of forty-nine people were present, including seventeen from the Vermont and New Hampshire areas.  By 2005, services were held once per month, with two ministers usually present and fifty to eighty in the congregation.  Visitors from Connecticut, New York and Illinois had supported this beginning.  A family from Rockville, found employment and moved to the area in 2005 and in 2006 another family moved to Vermont from Kitchener, Ontario.  Because of travel times, a Grange Hall in North Clarendon was used for services beginning in December 2006.  In 2007, services were increased to 3 times per month.  In 2008 more families moved in and services were increased to 4 times per month. In 2023, a building and land were purchased in Castleton, VT and the remodeling of that building took place.  On January 21, 2024 the first services were held in our church building at 256 Brown Farm Rd.  At this time, the Castleton congregation meets every Sunday for services.

Our Local Vision

In early 2022 our church family developed a vision statement to clarify the direction for our congregation and assist in decision making. These statements reflect hours of prayerful consideration and discussion that we would be of one accord, in love, and of one mind. (Philippians 2:2)

  1. Nurture the church by edifying and ministering to the needs (spiritual, physical, emotional) of our congregation and cultivating friendships within our group.
  2. Foster and exhibit a warm welcoming fellowship.
  3. Include and engage our children, so that they feel valued and invested in the future of our congregation.
  4. Increase awareness of our Castleton congregation among the national Apostolic Christian brotherhood.
  5. Provide opportunities for others to join and contribute to the Castleton congregation even if they do not live here full-time.
  6. Inspire people to prayerfully consider relocation to the Castleton area to support and help sustain our local congregation.
  7. Be a light to the local community and draw people to Christ who are looking for truth and fellowship.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
